How to Configure SMART Database Scanner in the SiteLock Dashboard
The SMART DB (Secure Malware Alert and Removal Tool Database) is a feature that comes included in both the Prevent and Prevent Plus plans. It scans your website's database on an on-demand basis and cleans any malware automatically by connecting to your hosting account via FTP.This feature is not automatically configured and must be done manually. To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Launch the SiteLock Dashboard
- If you purchased the SiteLock services through us, you could launch the dashboard by signing into your hosting control panel and following the instructions.
- If you purchased the service directly from SiteLock, you can go to sitelock.com and click on the LOGIN button at the top right-hand corner.
- The username will be the email address that you have used to sign up for the service.
- You may need to request a password reset if you are unable to sign in.
After logging into your dashboard and has configured SMART:
- Click the Dashboard button on the top left-hand corner. Then look for the box that says SMART/Database. Click on that box to configure the scan.
- Next, you will be prompted to update your Platform Access Settings. Click the Update button.
- Provide the info about your platform:
- Does your site have an SSL certificate?
- Does your site load to a Domain or Subdomain?
- Specify your site's platform type.
NOTE: The scan can automatically connect to the database of WordPress and Joomla! Sites. However, if either one is not an option for you, select Other from the Platform type drop-down menu and have your database login credentials ready.
- The next step is to connect the Smart Scanner to your file server via FTP. Type in your FTP Host/ IP address, port number, User ID, and Password. Then click the Test Connection button.
- On the next page, select the file directory of your website files. Then click the This Is It button.
- This will now check the features of the site and connect the scan.
